Loan Management Software for Rwandan Lenders
Unguka360 is loan management software that runs the full lending lifecycle — application, scoring, approval, disbursement, repayment, and recovery — for non-deposit-taking financial institutions, SACCOs, and lending cooperatives operating in Rwanda.
One system for the whole loan lifecycle
Most lenders in Rwanda run their portfolio across a spreadsheet for schedules, a separate ledger for accounting, and a third file assembled by hand each quarter for the regulator. Every handoff between those three is a place where the numbers stop agreeing.
Unguka360 keeps the loan as a single record from the moment an application is captured to the moment it is closed or written off. The repayment schedule, the accounting entries, the delinquency classification, and the regulatory return are all generated from that one record, so they cannot drift apart.
- Capture applications with client details, collateral, guarantors, and supporting documents.
- Score applications against your own rules before they reach a committee.
- Route approvals through loan officer, branch manager, committee, and managing director.
- Disburse and generate the full repayment schedule automatically.
- Record repayments, part-payments, penalties, and early settlement.
- Track arrears and classify the portfolio by risk bucket as they age.
Any loan product your institution offers
Product configuration is data, not a code change. Interest method, term, grace period, fees, penalties, and repayment frequency are set per product, so agriculture loans, business loans, salary-backed loans, and group lending can each behave the way your credit policy says they should.
When your policy changes, you change the product — existing loans keep the terms they were written under, which is what an auditor will expect to see.
Delinquency and recovery, classified the way BNR expects
Arrears are tracked from the day a scheduled instalment is missed, and loans move through the standard risk buckets — Current, Watch, Substandard, Doubtful, and Loss — as they age. That classification drives both your internal recovery workflow and the portfolio figures in your regulatory return, from the same data.
Collections staff see the overdue book by branch, by officer, and by age band, rather than a single portfolio number that hides where the risk actually sits.
Multiple branches, one portfolio view
One institution can run any number of branches. Loan officers see their own book, branch managers see their branch, and head office sees the consolidated portfolio — enforced by role-based access rather than by convention.
Every approval, disbursement, edit, and repayment is written to an audit trail tied to the user who made it, so any question about what happened and who authorized it has an answer.
Frequently asked questions
- What is loan management software?
- Loan management software is the system a lender uses to originate, approve, disburse, and track loans through to repayment or recovery. It maintains the repayment schedule, the arrears position, and the accounting entries for every loan, replacing the mix of spreadsheets and manual registers many institutions otherwise rely on.
- Does Unguka360 work for lenders outside Kigali?
- Yes. Unguka360 is web-based, so any branch with an internet connection uses the same system and the same data. Multi-branch institutions operating upcountry run on it exactly as a Kigali head office does.
- Can we migrate an existing loan portfolio into Unguka360?
- Yes. Existing clients, loans, balances, and repayment histories can be imported so your portfolio position on day one matches what you were reporting before the move.
- Is a loan management system (LMS) the same as loan management software?
- They are the same thing. "Loan management system", "LMS", and "loan management software" all describe the system a lender uses to originate, approve, disburse, and track loans through to repayment. In Kinyarwanda it is usually described as a sisitemu y’inguzanyo — a system for gucunga inguzanyo, managing loans. Unguka360 is that system, built for Rwandan lenders. Note that "LMS" also commonly stands for "learning management system" in other industries; in lending it means loan management system.
- What does a loan management system cost in Rwanda?
- Pricing depends on the size of your institution — how many branches, users, and active loans you run — so we quote per institution rather than publishing a single figure. What we can say is what you are compared against: an international core banking licence prices in the deposit-taking modules you are not permitted to use, and consultants to localize reporting that Unguka360 ships with. Call or email us and we will quote against your actual numbers.
